Nigeria cement prices climb 3% in a week as diesel costs bite
A 50kg bag of cement now averages ₦9,500 nationwide, with builders pointing to higher diesel and FX pressure on inputs.

Cement prices across Nigeria rose to an average of ₦9,500 per 50kg bag this week, a roughly 3.2% increase over the previous week, according to Opaindex dealer surveys in Lagos, Abuja and Kano.
Merchants attribute the move to higher diesel (AGO) costs — which feed directly into haulage — and continued foreign-exchange pressure on imported production inputs.
What this means for builders
At current levels, a typical 200-bag delivery costs roughly ₦1.9m before transport. Builders planning Q3 projects should budget for continued volatility tied to fuel and FX.
